Finding Leaders for Hard-to-Staff SchoolsLink: http://eric.uoregon.edu/publications/digests/digest173.html Most of the research on "hard-to-staff" schools (often characterized by high-poverty, low test scores, high staff turnover, and large numbers of inexperienced teachers)has foucsed on teacher supply. Schools who have the greatest need for highly-qualified, experienced leadership, may also have trouble attracting well-qualified principals. This ERIC Digest explores the seriousness of the problem, and suggests recruiting strategies and suggestions for making positions in these schools more attractive to potential candidates.
